FACIALS

q

What is involved when I schedule a facial?

a

For the basic one hour facial, Bonnie will clean, steam and massage, extract, mask and moisturize. The 90 minute treatment is the same as above but with a 4-layer mask and not for someone who is claustrophobic. It is a great mask for healing.
An Osmosis facial is available for drier and older skin. It tones, lifts and gets those little blackheads out with no extraction.

q

What is microdermabrasion?

a

Microdermabrasion is a mechanical process that makes use of fine crystals to treat a variety of sking conditions including aging, sun-damage and acne scarring. It is ideal for those who shy away from chemical peels and more agressive treatments. For best results a series of 4-6 treatments is recommended.

q

What is ultra sonic skin care?

a

It's like putting your jewelry in a sonic cleansing machine. It shakes and breaks up all the impurities in your pores and brings that stuff to the top so that it can be gently scraped off while gently micro-massaging the skin.

Technically speaking, an ultrasonic facial uses a cavitation device (a soft spoon-like comb) in combination with low frequency ultrasound waves and mineralized water to safely exfoliate the skin. The ultrasound waves also destroy acne bacteria, while high oxygen levels kill anaerobic organisms, a common cause of acne. The treatment helps combat aging, reduces the appearances of wrinkles, helps manage rosacea and controls hyper-pigmentation foar a more even-toned complexion without the redness the usually follows traditional micro-dermabrasion.

WAXING

Why not just shave?

Shaving stimulates potential hair growth and can strengthen the hair follicle. Shaving also cuts the hair which regrows with a stubbly feel. Unlike saving or tweezing, you will be smoother for longer.

Is it true hair grows back darker and thicker after waxing?

This is a false conception. Hair comes back softer, thinner and weaker over time when removed by waxing. The more often you wax, the better, but do not shave in between.

When is the best time and age to wax?

Any time of the year and at any age.

Is waxing just for women?

No, waxing is a preferred method for men's neck lines, eyebrows and ears.

How long should my hair be in order to get waxed?

Hair should be at least 1/4" long

Is there anything you should know before waxing me?

If you have or are taking Retinol, Accutane or any other skin thinning product, please let Bonnie know. If you have a systemic disease or open wounds, let Bonnie know. Your skin may be ultra sensitive and it might be best to choose a different time to wax.

Does it hurt?

You will feel a sting for a mere second and then it is over! As you begin to wax regularly, you will feel it less and less.

For first time visitors, you may want to ake two to four ibuprofen, 30-60 minutes before your appointment. It will help to dull the pain receptors and make it a more pleasant experience.

Why do I break out when I have my lip waxed?

Waxing temporarily stimulates the glandular systems. This is normal and usually disappears after the first few times you wax.

How frequently should I plan to be waxed?

Allow seven to 10 days of hair growth before the next visit. If you come in too soon, it's not enough. If you wait too long, it's going to be more painful.

Anything else I need to know?

  • When it comes to bikini waxing, try not to make the appointment prior or during your monthly period. You may be extremely sensitive.

  • Stay out of the sun 24 hours before or after a treatment.

  • Make sure your skin is clean with no lotions or oils on the skin on the day of service.

  • Exfoliate lightly with a loofah sponge in the areas to be waxed, especially if it a bikini wax.

  • Cafeine stimulates the nervous system and increases sensitivity. So you may want to limit your caffeine intake on the day of service.

  • Don't use self-tanners, exfoliants or moisturizers on the day of service. It may cause infections or irritations since the sensitive hair follicles are open after the wax.

  • Do not consider waxing a new area before a big event. You do not know what kind of reaction you might have. Come in two to three days before the big event, just to be safe, even if you are a regular visitor.
